Our Mission Statement

We, at The Enabling Project (TEP), believe in a world where all individuals have the opportunity to succeed and the support to be empowered.

Our Work

To create tangible action, we at The Enabling Project have taken on three different threads of action, each targeting different areas of necessity to create a community that empowers dreamers with disabilities.

1. Employment

One key element of empowerment is providing employment opportunities to persons with disabilities. In its most simplified manner, the process in which The Enabling Project aims to act as an intermediary body between vocational training centres and employment firms is to:

  1. Partner up with various organisations that specialise in vocational training for persons with disabilities

  2. Connect to candidates who are looking for employment

  3. Understand their dreams, aspirations and specialities

  4. Connect to employers from the firms to the organisation specialising in vocational training for them to proceed with the legal agreements for employment for the PWD candidates.

Essentially, we aim to be the intermediary body that connects dreamers with their dreams.

2. Education

One of the most pertinent parts of empowerment in education, as all growth starts in the youth. Hence, at The Enabling Project, we have taken up various projects to help bolster the status of education available to persons with disabilities.

Projects include applications to provide education, assisting schools that are under-funded with minimal resources, volunteering with students and other community workers and many more such endeavours!

3. Sensitisation

Another pivotal area of empowerment is sensitisation which is defined as “the process of becoming sensitive to specific events or situations.” Since persons with disabilities are bound to work with those who are able, it is crucial that those who are able to have the adept training be able to be hospitable and empower their fellow PWDs. We do so in two verticals.

  1. School Sensitisation: We reach out to schools to provide them with either live or pre-recorded modules of several experts trained in the field of sensitisation helping teach how to create a more sensitised and hospitable environment for their fellow PWDs. This is directed at both students and teachers.

  2. Professional Sensitisation:  We reach out to schools to provide them with either live or pre-recorded modules of several experts trained in the field of sensitisation helping teach how to create a more sensitised and hospitable environment for their fellow PWDs. This is directed at employees in firms.

Provided job opportunities for both High School Diploma Students (from the CBSE Board) and Undergraduates (with a BSC) from the TEACH India foundation, for hearing-impaired dreamers!

Over 11 candidates currently have a job as a result of TEP making a INR 19,80,0000 a year in total! We also have jobs lined up for 100 candidates post-graduation in the class of 2022. This is in partnership with the organisation Youth4Jobs.

Employment

Our most recent project is The Enabling App partnered with Montfort Care. This application aims to provide over 1000 different resources for children with disabilities all across the country who may not have access to physical speech therapy and education. Speech therapy is pivotal for hearing-impaired children to move forth in their professional careers. This application aims to target over 10,000 children living in rural areas of India by the end of 2022.

Education

Created unique learning modules and sensitisation projects for international schools across the city of Mumbai. Along with our educational sensitisation projects, we are looking to expand and delve into the professional sector with various such initiatives in action already.

Our goal is to target schools all across the country and smaller firms that may not have the infrastructure to establish sensitistion modules.

Our Vision

As a student-led organisation, we wish to use the privilege and voice that we have been provided with to help out various members of the differently-abled community in a professional capacity so as to empower them to be self-sustainable. We hope that in the coming five years, with the world done in our project, we will be able to uplift different person's within the differently-abled community and create tangible change for generations to come.
